Itinerary:
Day 1 - Tue: Shannon & Leisure Time
Arrive in Shannon Airport and go to the CIE Tours desk to arrange a hotel transfer between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon. Check into your hotel near Bunratty Castle and dine in your hotel. (D)
Day 2 - Wed: Bunratty Village & Cliffs of Moher
Enjoy a free morning before meeting your driver/ guide and group at 12:30 pm in your hotel lobby. Drive to the coast to view the Cliffs of Moher, an impressive wall of rock that rises 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Continue through the hilly Burren region to Galway to see the main places of interest and browse around the city center. (B, D)
Day 3 - Thu: “Quiet Man” Walk & Connemara Tour
In Cong, join a local guide on a walk to see places featured in the movie of “The Quiet Man” made in 1952. Tour Connemara and admire sweeping views of misty mountains and shimmering lakes. Stop briefly in Kylemore Abbey, a 19th century neo-Gothic mansion, before driving to Clifden, a charming town on the west coast. In Moycullen watch skilled craftsmen cutting fine crystal at the Connemara Celtic Crystal Factory. (B, D)
Day 4 - Fri: Yeats' Grave & Donegal
Head north to the village of Knock, a popular place of pilgrimage, and through County Sligo to view Tobernault Mass Rock, a place of worship during penal times, and W. B. Yeats' grave in Drumcliffe Churchyard. Stop in Donegal town to take a look around before driving to Derry. (B, D)
Day 5 - Sat: Derry Walk & Giant's Causeway
Take a guided walking tour around Derry's 16th century city walls with a local guide and visit the Tower Museum. Drive along the north coast, stopping for photos at Dunluce Castle, and on to explore the Giant's Causeway, huge hexagonal columns formed over 60 million years ago. Return to Derry for leisure time before dinner. (B, D)
Day 6 - Sun: Ulster American Folk Park & Cabra Castle Stay
Visit the Ulster American Folk Park, which traces the story of Ulster emigrants and shows rural lifestyles in both Ireland and Colonial America. Travel south to Kingscourt to your castle hotel, built in 1760. Arrive mid-afternoon in time to enjoy the facilities, including the 9-hole golf course. After dinner in the Court Restaurant, enjoy youthful dancers display intricate Irish step dancing. (B, D)
Day 7 - Mon: Malahide Castle & Dublin at Leisure
Tour Malahide Castle, which was inhabited by the Talbot family from 1185 until 1973 to see the main chambers and rich furnishings. Then travel into Dublin and check in to your hotel overlooking the River Liffey. You will have the balance of the day at leisure so you may take an open-top bus tour and visit Guinness or Jameson. (B)
Day 8 - Tue: Depart from Dublin Airport
Take the hotel's shuttle service to Dublin Airport in ample time to check in for your flight home. (B)
